Testing of the Fireworks for Beijing Olymics 2008

Saturday, 2nd of August 2008, from 20.00 to 22.00.
More than 2 million people on the street, in front of the Beijing Olympic Sports Area... to assist the official testing of the Fireworks Show for the Olympic Games 2008.

As the whole show was not officially advertised (only mentioned on some local newspapers), we were among the very few foreigners there.. And here are the pictures, exclusive of BeijingPlus!

We have actually seen the trucks entering the Beijing Olympic Stadium: each truck was bringing a huge platform for shooting fireworks in the sky

Now some facts on the fireworks for Beijing Olympics in gerneral:

  • CaiGuoQiang 蔡国强 (famous for his 5 sec firework sketch that was sold for 70 million RMB on an auction) was the designer of the whole Firework show.
  • 33866 fireworks and 600 people were involved in the firework show only for the Opening Ceremony altogether
  • Producer of the fireworks "Panda Fireworks" 熊猫烟花公司 has already received an invitation for the firework display for London Olympics 2012
