We usually go to Tim's Texas every Tuesday for the trivia night. A (Texan) friend found out about this place and she started the tradition. To say that we suck at trivia would be an understatement but we go there anyway, enjoying the excellent food (meat!!!) and the pleasant atmosphere. Everything on the menu is good but we especially recommend the trail burger and the baked potato. The place is big, has two floors and smoking / non smoking sections. The design and decorations on the walls really give you the feeling of Texas but since we have never been there we can't say for sure. That's why we went ahead and asked our very hard to please texan friend. Here is what she had to say: 1. "The staff is not Texan but Chinese" - Yeah well, what can you do? On that note by the way, you do get a "howdie" greeting when you get in. 2. "The portions are smaller than what you get in Texas" - We all know they eat too much there and that makes it the right size here. 3. "The place is both aggie and longhorn" - Apparently, Texan rules are very strict when it comes supporting more than one university football team. All in all she gave it a seven out of ten but said it's probably one of the best places to have texan food here in Beijing. How to get there Tim's Texas Bar.B.Q is the east of central Beijing in what's known as the embassies area (walking distance from the silk market). The closest subway station is JianGuoMen (exit B). After you get out of the subway turn right and then right again and walk north along the second ring road. turn right again on the first turn. after you cross a small intersection the place should be to your right.
